Grandma and Grandpa Rydecki came out to visit for a week (mid August). We got to celebrate all of our Birthdays (mine, Aaron's and Emme's) while they were here, as well as their anniversary (36 years!). It was a great visit. It was so incredibly special to be able to watch them bond with their grandchildren, especially since we live so far apart and only see them a couple of times a year. It's quality, not quantity, that matters...that's what I tell myself to feel better anyway.
When Emmeline woke up on the morning they left (we said our goodbyes at night since their flight was so early), she said, "Grandpa sleeping?" and went downstairs to look for them in the guest room. :-( We keep reminding her that we will see them in December (in Texas for Christmas).
**stay tuned for pictures from Emmeline's birthday celebration. That will be a seperate post.
This is Mary and Rome on their anniversary. We celebrated with wine tasting and a delicious dinner on the patio at Barking Frog in Woodinville.
Thank you to our friend Matt, Pastry Chef at Barking Frog, for helping us celebrate all of our birthdays and anniversaries! Best desserts ever! Best dinner too. Yummy.
Dinner celebrations again (on my bday?) in Kirkland at The Beach Cafe. Why have we not been here before? So good. Great view!
These shots are precious...
We spent the day at the beach on my birthday...
making sand cookies for grandpa...
Mommy's cake (sand) and candle (stick)...Mmmmm! ha, ha!
Park time!
We took Mary for her first hike ever (Rome's second with us)...it was a beautiful hike! We hiked to the middle viewpoint, about a 5 mile hike. We all really enjoyed it. We got a great workout (my favorite kind!), some fresh air and an awesome view of a waterfall at the top!
Here's some info on Wallace Falls, located in the Central Cascades: http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/wallace-falls
